Nara

Nara refers to a city in Japan, which was the capital of the country during the early Nara period, from 710 to 794 AD. It is known for its historical significance, as it is home to some of Japan’s oldest and most important temples and shrines, including Todai-ji, which houses a giant Buddha statue, and Kasuga-taisha, renowned for its many lanterns. Nara is also famous for its free-roaming deer in Nara Park, which are considered sacred and symbolize the city’s cultural heritage. Additionally, “Nara” can refer to the Nara period itself, a time marked by significant developments in art, culture, and Buddhism in Japan.
